🧠 Medical Director (Psychiatrist)
Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health | Tulsa, OK
Full-Time | Exempt | Commensurate based on education and experience
We are seeking a Medical Director (Psychiatrist) who wants to remain hands-on with patient care while also helping guide clinical excellence within an inpatient behavioral health setting.

This opportunity is based at the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health, where you will care for adults experiencing acute mental health crises in a structured and supportive inpatient environment.
You'll have the opportunity to directly impact patient outcomes while also influencing how care is delivered across the facility.
🏥 About the Facility:
The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health is a Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric hospital providing evidence-based, patient-centered care to adults experiencing mental health crises, with or without co-occurring substance use disorders.
In response to the increasing need for mental health services in our community, TCBH is being replaced by a new facility, the Oklahoma Psychiatric Care Center (OPCC). Situated in the OSU Academic Medical District in downtown Tulsa, this modern psychiatric hospital will feature 106 inpatient beds, an expanded residency program, and an enhanced range of behavioral health services. Construction of the OPCC is currently in progress.

🩺 What You'll Do (Clinical + Leadership Impact)
In this role, you'll remain deeply engaged in patient care while guiding clinical excellence across the facility.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on psychiatric care, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for individuals in state custody
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Manage and monitor psychotropic medications, including regular re-evaluations
  • Order and interpret laboratory testing to support diagnosis and treatment decisions
  • Maintain direct communication with patients, ensuring they are informed and engaged in their care
  • Guide and support treatment planning and program development
  • Evaluate existing programs and recommend improvements to enhance patient outcomes
  • Supervise and mentor clinical staff
  • Provide clinical directions to multidisciplinary teams
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and standards of care
  • Support staff through education, consultation, and in-service training
  • Participate in on-call coverage related to psychiatric care and medication management

What You Bring
Required Qualifications and Special Requirements:
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Oklahoma
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist
  • Applicants must be able to pass an OSBI background check
