Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose of Job: The Neuroscience Medical Director will provide medical leadership in neuroscience. Supports program development, refinement, and referral base growth of the service. Serves as primary communicator to physicians who are current or potential users of these services. Acts as a liaison to the medical staff on issues pertaining to neuroscience services. Meets with the CMO quarterly and yearly to create and review performance of BASE + growth goals.
Essential Duties: - Provides medical leadership for neuroscience departments
- Develop and lead clinical development strategies
- Act as clinical lead for neuroscience, monitoring safety data, ensuring patient safety
- Collaborate with accreditation readiness department and represent the department for any regulatory interactions
- Lead the interpretation of data to support business strategy
- Work Collaboratively with the Administrative Director of Neuroscience
- Belonging&Inclusion: assess performance on engagement survey and work to achieve >70% participation in engagement survey, and improved performance on measures of psychological safety by > .03, supervise medical directors of the stroke program and neurophysiology. Ensure adequate supervision and educational experience for trainees in collaboration with the program director. The attending is available per UMHSL by-laws, sees the patient within the time frame of the consult and has chart documentation, labs and imaging review.
- Access: increase number of adult patients that receive service from the neurophysiology program
- Safety: achieve Vizient top quartile performance in mortality and L.O.S. for patients with a primary Neurologic diagnosis in 3 years; all services will collaborate with quality team to create a Morbidity, Mortality and Peer Review program in accordance with the Reaching for the Stars program.
- Experience: achieve Press Ganey targets for UMHSL
- Growth: collaborate with NeuroCare network to design a neuro-hospitalist program in FY26 inclusive of consults and inpatient general neurology; expand EMU program through increasing adult patients
- Finance: create pro-forma for a Neurohospitalist program in FY26
- Integration: alignment with UMH-AMC and UMH-West on all neuroscience programs
- Innovation: remote stroke and neurophysiology services
- Participates in credentialing of neuroscience staff
- Reviews and recommends the acquisition of new technology, equipment to maintain state of the art technology and cost effectiveness.

Minimum of 3 years as a practicing provider
Education
MD or DO
