About the role: magniX is building a small, cross-functional team to develop a new 800V battery-based power supply and backup system for datacenter compute racks, drawing on the company's deep bench of electric propulsion battery and power electronics expertise. The
Mechanical/Thermal Engineer is responsible for the design of a new battery pack and power converter enclosure, built for datacenter rack integration from the ground up. They will own enclosure design, thermal management strategy, and serviceability requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:- Design a new enclosure and mechanical packaging for the battery pack and power converter to meet datacenter rack space, weight, and access constraints.
- Develop thermal management strategy (air- or liquid-cooled) for continuous-duty operation in a datacenter environment.
- Lead integration planning with rack-level airflow, cooling, and maintenance/service access requirements.
- Work with the Battery Systems Engineer on thermal interface requirements between cells, modules, and enclosure.
- Lead mechanical qualification testing (vibration, shock, ingress protection) appropriate to the stationary use case.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelors' in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years in thermal management and mechanical packaging of power electronics or battery systems.
- Experience with both air- and liquid-cooling system design.
- Familiarity with high-power-density enclosure design and associated thermal simulation tools.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience packaging automotive or aerospace battery/power systems into stationary or industrial form factors.
- Familiarity with datacenter rack standards (e.g., EIA-310, OCP) and liquid cooling infrastructure.

Salary Range: $120k-$165k
