Full Job Description
The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for the on-site coordination, supervision, and execution of all mechanical scopes of work. This role ensures that all mechanical work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract documents, quality standards, and applicable codes. The Mechanical Superintendent serves as a key field leader, directing crews and subcontractors while partnering closely with project management to drive successful project delivery. This position is classified as 9safety-sensitive.9 Essential Functions Field Supervision & Execution 9 Direct and oversee daily mechanical field operations, including self-perform crews and mechanical subcontractors. 9 Coordinate the sequencing and installation of mechanical systems (piping, HVAC, plumbing, process, and equipment) with other trades to maintain workflow and schedule. 9 Interpret and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, submittals, and approved shop drawings. 9 Manage material deliveries, staging, and equipment logistics to support uninterrupted production. Safety & Quality 9 Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans. 9 Conduct daily huddles, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for mechanical activities. 9 Perform quality control inspections, verify installations meet code and contract requirements, and manage punch-list resolution. Scheduling & Planning 9 Develop and maintain short-interval (look-ahead) schedules for mechanical scopes in coordination with the project schedule. 9 Identify constraints, resource needs, and potential delays; proactively communicate solutions to the project team. 9 Track production rates and labor productivity against budget and schedule. Coordination & Communication 9 Collaborate with the Project Manager, Superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field conflicts and RFIs. 9 Participate in coordination and BIM/clash-detection meetings to prevent installation conflicts. 9 Document daily field activities, manpower, equipment usage, and progress through daily reports. Team Leadership 9 Supervise, mentor, and develop field crews, foremen, and apprentices. 9 Manage crew assignments, workforce planning, and performance in the field. 9 Foster a collaborative, accountable, and respectful work environment. Qualifications 9 High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade certification or associate degree preferred. 9 Seven or more years of mechanical construction experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role. 9 Proven experience across mechanical disciplines (piping, HVAC, plumbing, and/or process/industrial systems). 9 Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation methods, and applicable building/mechanical codes. 9 Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings. 9 Proficiency with scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and field/project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam). 9 Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. 9 Solid understanding of OSHA standards and construction safety practices. 9 OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification. Working Conditions 9 Location 6 This project is located in Farmington, New Mexico. Subsequent projects will be nationally based. 9 Travel 6 This role will be expected to travel to project locations and regional offices. 9 Office environment 6 extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.a0 9 Construction site environment 6 physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb.a0 Exposed to high noise levels.a0
