Chemours is seeking a Mechanical/Reliability Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be available at the Chambers Works location in Deepwater, NJ and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.
Within this role you will provide process, materials, and/or equipment engineering technical expertise in a technology area to manufacturing operations to maintain production performance or restore process capability when the product or standard process is no longer safe, stable, predictable or in control. Participates as part of a team to upgrade products and processes by implementing modifications ranging from incremental daily improvements to technology game changes. Develops improved process instrumentation and control strategies, process safety, yields, capacity and uptime performance. Helps to train personnel and build in the manufacturing line organization to maintain and enhance operations. Serves as first response to plant technical issues and assists in trouble shooting process or equipment issues.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide mechanical engineering support to the manufacturing area operations.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards, and quality assurance.
- Supply mechanical expertise for troubleshooting and modifying operating equipment and facilities.
- Handle technical troubleshooting and training to the operations and maintenance teams.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures.
- Develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks, predictive & preventative maintenance (PPM), critical spare parts, and SAP data utilizing appropriate tools such as criticality assessments and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and uptime data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain the lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.
- Lead preventative maintenance (PM) optimization efforts.
- Develop and implement strategies for improving mechanical reliability.
- Actively work with the Technology, Maintenance and Production organizations as a role model utilizing, training, and coaching advanced reliability techniques and tools to develop, maintain and drive a reliability culture.
The following is required for this role:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of Mechanical Engineering work experience in a chemical manufacturing/hazardous industrial setting or related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence management.
- Comfortable working in a team environment, high degree of initiative and self-motivation, and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely.
- Ability to make decisions, work independently, and communicate effectively to a broad audience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and "hands-on" attitude.
The following is preferred for this role:
- 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering work experience in a chemical manufacturing or hazardous industrial setting.
- SAP Plant Maintenance module experience.
- Knowledge of the principles of Maintenance and reliability best practices including the work management process, rotating equipment and alignment techniques, and basic materials science including material selection and properties.
- Knowledge of principles of Lubrication, tribology, and fundamentals of interpreting oil analysis results, vibration analysis and data interpretation, and fundamentals of nondestructive testing.
- Basic understanding of the principles of Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills, failure analysis including preservation of evidence techniques, knowledge of engineering design standards and their application, and Cost/Capital analysis and justification.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies

Pay Range (in local currency):
$97,843.00 - $152,880.00

Annual Bonus Target:
6%
