The ideal candidate will provide Mechanical Engineer support through reliability processes and function within the highly automated business unit of the Hot Strip Mill to meet the business goals of ArcelorMittal Calvert.

The Basics:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in heavy industry.
  • Proficient in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Practices.
  • Familiarity with RCFA, Cause Mapping, Kaizen, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports, recommendations, and communications.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and presentation of technical reports and recommendations.
  • Experience supporting maintenance and reliability activities for heavy industrial equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of:
    • Mechanical power transmission systems, including gearboxes, drive shafts, bearings, couplings, rollers, and conveyors.
    • Hydraulic systems, including cylinders, servo valves, accumulators, piping systems, hose connections, and filtration systems.
    • Centralized lubrication systems, including oil and grease systems, lubrication practices, and contamination control.
    • Equipment troubleshooting, failure analysis, and reliability improvement practices.
    • Mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)


The Extras:
  • Experience using SAP preferred.
  • Steel Hot Rolling experience preferred.
  • Experience leading Continuous Improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience supporting major maintenance outages in heavy industry preferred.
  • Experience leading and supporting capital improvement projects, including technical evaluations, equipment modifications, and implementation activities preferred.
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance techniques and analysis, including vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis, and other predictive maintenance technologies preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Provides Mechanical Maintenance Engineering support for the Maintenance Team.
  • Initiates and facilitates Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations involving equipment failures and major breakdowns.
  • Identifies and implements solutions for repeat equipment failures and unplanned downtime events.
  • Participates in the execution and analysis of critical equipment inspections.
  • Analyzes equipment data and maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Develops technically based Equipment Maintenance Plans.
  • Performs tracking and trending of equipment maintenance performance.
  • Reviews mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of maintenance and reliability policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Prepares and presents technical reports, findings, recommendations, and equipment performance trends.
  • Participates in daily maintenance and production meetings and technical briefings.
  • Analyzes equipment cost, availability, reliability, and quality performance indicators.
  • Leads and supports troubleshooting activities involving critical equipment failures and unplanned downtime events.
  • Observes safety requirements, reviews accident and incident reports, and assists in investigations as required.
  • Provides technical leadership and support to Maintenance Technicians during critical maintenance activities and special projects.
  • Leads and supports equipment improvement initiatives and technical projects focused on safety, reliability, maintainability, and equipment performance.
  • Supports management initiatives focused on optimizing equipment quality, cost, availability, and performance.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office and industrial setting within the Hot Strip Mill production unit.
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads, some weekends are required during extended Mill Outage work
