Interplan is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead mechanical and plumbing (MEP) design projects from kickoff through completion. In this role, you'll manage project scope, schedules, and budgets while ensuring technical quality and seamless coordination across disciplines. Your leadership will directly shape client satisfaction and help uphold Interplan's reputation for design excellence.
What You'll Do- Oversee mechanical and plumbing design development, ensuring systems are efficient, code compliant, constructible, and aligned with client goals
- Lead project QA/QC efforts, providing clear, constructive feedback to maintain design quality
- Monitor project budgets and schedules, keeping deliverables aligned with client and firm expectations
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, both within the MEP department and across other Interplan teams
- Represent the MEP team in coordination meetings, resolve technical design conflicts, and clearly communicate design intent to internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor and coach junior staff, supporting their technical growth and professional development
- Create and manage project budget sheets and review budget-to-actual reports
- Build strong client relationships through responsive, high-quality service and clear communication
What We're Looking For- Strong working knowledge of building, mechanical, and plumbing codes (IBC, IMC, IPC), along with core MEP design skills such as HVAC load calculations, ductwork/diffuser layouts, water and sanitary pipe sizing, and related engineering calculations
- Proven ability to read and coordinate across architectural, structural, civil, and electrical drawings
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with a solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication skills written, verbal, and interpersonal with the ability to train and guide others effectively
- Experience managing project schedules, multitasking across priorities, and meeting deadlines reliably
- Proficiency with industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office
- A collaborative, accountable approach to leadership, with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing team members
Requirements- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-7 years of management experience
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Work EnvironmentThis is an on-site role in a collaborative commercial design firm, with occasional travel for client business or training. The role involves regular use of a computer, frequent calls and video meetings, and occasional light lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
