Job DescriptionDewberry is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to work in our Boston, Massachusetts office to support our growing Boston practice and to support various offices throughout the Northeast region. We are seeking a client focused, passionate, and self-driven individual to support project execution activities associated with design and construction of MEP projects. This position will be based out of the Boston, MA office and may involve some travel to project sites throughout the Northeast.
The Mechanical Project Engineer position will be responsible for supporting design-build and design-bid-build projects. This includes design and/or construction for facility type projects, as well as providing strong technical support to PMs on their projects. Typical projects may include renovation of existing facility building systems, public facilities, and transit stations, including mechanical and plumbing systems. Projects may also include site civil, tenant improvements and coordination of other trades. Projects will typically be for both public and private clients, including but not limited to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) or Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) projects.
Responsibilities
- Project Manager for multiple projects related to facilities or other mechanical engineering related projects.
- Responsible for project delivery and technical quality associated with each project.
- Assigns tasks to engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
- Plans and coordinates all aspects of work and performs analysis and design.
- Prepares scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
- Mechanical Professional Engineering license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- A minimum of 8 years experience in the design and/or construction of mechanical and plumbing systems.
- A working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and applicability to public facilities.
- Proficient with computers applications, Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality assurance/ quality control and risk management.
- Strong technical experience in the design and/or construction of mechanical and plumbing systems.
- An ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferences:
- A masters degree in a related field.
- Experience with MBTA policies and procedures related to safety and access requirements.
- Experience with MassDOT, MBTA or NAVFAC facilities is a plus.
Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.

Salary Range
The projected range for this position is $117,250 to $150,750 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Boston, MA only.
