Description

GPI seeks a Professional Engineer to lead our Mechanical HVAC Engineering team in our Metro NY office located in Suffern, NY. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all engineering staff and managing project design efforts across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, primarily within the Tri-State region.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to department staff to ensure high-quality deliverables and efficient project execution
  • Establish and implement best practices to improve consistency, quality, and performance within the team
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support staff development
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and technical studies, and prepare detailed reports
  • Support project managers with proposal development, including scope definition, project strategy, and identifying constraints
  • Prepare RFPs and assist with design and permitting requirements
  • Participate in industry organizations at the local, regional, and national levels to support professional development and visibility
  • Contribute to business growth through marketing efforts, client engagement, proposal development, and project management


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • 15 or more years of experience in engineering and project management, primarily within the MEP industry
  • Strong technical expertise in HVAC design, plumbing systems, and NFPA 13 sprinkler system design

Requirements

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
