Torch Technologies is seeking a
Mechanical Fluids Design Engineer with a strong background in fluids and controls design. This position will support our Advanced Concepts Engineering (ACE) Technical Development (TD) business unit. The candidate will support design efforts for multiple platforms including aviation, ground, and weapon systems. Applicant will be designing MIL-STD compliant systems and components and/or modifications to existing DoD systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design and evaluation of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, subsystems, and components; interfacing with other members of the design team and government customers to ensure program success; preparation of design specification, analyses, and recommendations for presentation in any project technical interchanges/preliminary design reviews/critical design reviews/fabrication readiness reviews/physical configuration audits.
The candidate will be able to see designs through from white paper napkin to fabrication and test on a regular basis.
As a Mechanical Fluids Design Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:This position requires a versatile and highly motivated applicant who is adept in multiple areas of a product's design sequence.
- Develop efficient, cost-effective, and functional mechanical designs using tools such as SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation.
- Develop complex hydraulic fluid systems designs that would consist of the following:
- design and integration, schematics, flow paths, pressure/flow analysis, theory of operation, troubleshooting, and design verification, including piping design and pressure/stress calculations in accordance with ASME Standards (B31.3, etc.)
- Tubing and piping design, sizing, routing, fittings, bend requirements, supports, and installation.
- Selection and integration of valves, manifolds, regulators, filters, pumps, HPUs, instrumentation, quick-disconnects, and fittings.
