Full Job Description
All About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to provide mechanical design and engineering management to allow the organization to accomplish its goals & objectives. Responsible to manage all mechanical design engineering of Batteries, and Battery systems, assist in equipment and tooling requirements as necessary in 3 different Industries, Rail, Aviation, and Telecom. All work has to be done in compliance with ISO 9000, APTA, AS9100D, IEC, IEEE, ASTM, and AWS. Manage and lead Valdosta mechanical engineering team for cells and batteries in Alkaline Engineering department. Familiarity with EN- European standards, Telecordia, and Aviation standards (DO160G, DO-293), OSHA, federal and state regulations is a plus.  Design Ni-Cd cells for Railway, aviation and stationary application according to the request of Marketing.  Lead a team of Mechanical engineers in research and development of batteries & battery systems including Li-ion batteries. Coordinate with Cell electrochemical engineering team to design new cells, and batteries, and battery systems.  Provide technical support and assistance to manufacturing, purchasing, and quality to resolve issues. Support qualification of new components, suppliers or process. Must be familiar with Windchill, and Creo. Support FAI battery box build, interface with sales/marketing teams and customers to meet or exceed their system requirements with a competitive cost structure design by performing clause-by-clause reviews, and managing Project schedule and costs.  Review and implement engineering changes while maintaining documentation and configuration management. Maintain QAD system for Product Engineering. Provide production support by disposition of NMRs and DRs. Assist in product FMECA.  Support continuous improvement of engineering team process. Manage all the 2D/3D CreO drawings in a PLM software like Windchill.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree preferred
  • 10-15 years of Product design experience in the Aviation, or Rail markets
  • Must have atleast 5 years of experience leading and managing Mechanical Engineers in the design of batteries and battery systems

 

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical activities of mechanical team (battery design / component qualification)
  • Develop the new products and developments in line with the strategic plan and marketing
  • Contribute in the site cost reduction plan
  • Assist in the Railway, Aviation, and ISD segments on technical issues
  • Ensure support for production, the quality department, and the other sites (Zhuhai, Bangalore, Bordeaux,Valdosta)
  • Maintain all CAD 2D/3D Creo drawings in a Windchill PLM tool.
  • Motivate Mechanical Engineering Team
  • To ensure defining the design rules to size the accumulators (batteries) and battery systems in a reliable and repeatable way.
