Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.

This role is for an Associate Manager on the Boost Control Systems (BCS) Team. We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. As the associate Manager you will be responsible for doing research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Partner with leaders on workforce strategy, capability development, talent mobility, and opportunities to grow and deploy talent across teams.
  • Directing technical evaluations of product requirements, specifications, and designs.
  • Collaborating with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers to resolve quality/technical issues.
  • Leading failure investigations, material review board decisions, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve internal and supplier performance.


Basic Qualifications

  • STEM bachelor's degree from an accredited college or higher and/or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Experienced professional in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or manufacturing/process engineering
  • Experience in project or personnel management or team lead experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Engineering Lifecycle
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
