Standard Job DescriptionThe candidate will be required to design ground and/or flight hardware mechanical/structural components and subsystems compliant with customer requirements and LMSSC best practices (CIPS) in activities related to developing, revising, and releasing engineering drawings. Proven capability to design using CREO; to develop and release engineering designs including CAD objects using Engineering Product Data Management (EPDM) processes (or equivalent). Will coordinate engineering design packages with program PMP, stress, systems engineering, checking, manufacturing, product assurance, and configuration and data management as a minimum; specify engineering approvers; change task development in EPDM would be a plus but not necessary. Will implement strict CAD modeling standards; utilize "model-check" tools and resolve design conflicts to meet modeling standards. Will design components and subsystems using interfaces from a master CAD model. Will develop, integrate component and subsystem designs as part of the single master target CAD model. In addition, candidate will be expected to incorporate redlines, complete drawing and model changes, federate parts and materials, and coordinate changes for release in EPDM. The candidate will also be expected to handle aspects of product acceptance reviews, Engineering Material Review Board (EMRB), and Responsible Engineer (Certified Principal Engineer or equivalent) functions. Some travel may be required.
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
- 7 years or more of mechanical design and/or integration experience.
- Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication techniques.
- Highly proficient with mechanical CAD tools (CREO or equivalent), and CM tools (PDM, ePDM).
- Highly proficient with mechanical drafting standards, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer and vendor interface experience.
- Must be a US citizen to be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance
Desired Skills- PDM Windchill release processes,
- Experience in developing and conducting Engineering Review Boards (ERBs)-Material Review Boards (MRBs) and Failure Review Boards (FRBs) experience
- Mechanical/Structural Principal Engineer (Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) or equivalent) or Principle Engineer delegate
- Mechanical/structural design understanding per ASME Y14.5 and Lockheed Martin Savant (Previously CIPs)
- Engineering release process (engineering release using EPDM or equivalent)
- Team oriented, team leadership experience, good time management and communication skills.
- Mechanical design/analysis tool proficiency
- Secret Clearance
- Ability to travel
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00
