What we are looking forWe are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to guide our roll-to-roll web conveyance team and deliver complex equipment projects from concept through completion. Reporting to the Director of Mechanical Machine Engineering and Design, you will combine technical leadership, project execution, team development, and client partnership.
You will lead work involving web handling, unwinding and rewinding, tension control, winding, slitting, splicing, and in-line inspection systems. This role requires an onsite presence in Rochester, New York, and up to 25% travel.

- Plan and direct multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through installation and validation.
- Lead the design of rollers, nip systems, tension-control zones, web guides, splicing and slitting stations, and winding equipment.
- Troubleshoot web-handling issues such as wrinkles, surface damage, traction concerns, and tension instability.
- Direct testing, root-cause analysis, and validation to improve equipment safety, quality, and reliability.
- Create engineering calculations, design standards, technical documentation, and drawing packages.
- Develop project plans, schedules, proposals, cost estimates, and risk-mitigation strategies.
- Partner with clients and internal teams to understand needs, communicate recommendations, and identify new opportunities.
- Promote safe design and work practices throughout every project phase.
What you bring to the team- A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
- Seven or more years of engineering experience with roll-to-roll web handling or conveyance systems.
- Experience designing or troubleshooting tension-control systems, unwind and rewind equipment, rollers and nip systems, web guiding, splicing, slitting, or in-line inspection systems.
- Five or more years of experience using SolidWorks or a comparable 3D CAD platform.
- Experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through completion.
- The ability to analyze technical data, identify root causes, manage risk, and communicate with technical and nontechnical audiences.
- The ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred qualifications include experience leading technical teams; knowledge of servo-driven tension or torque control; and familiarity with FEA, CFD, ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, value-stream mapping, or project-management software. A Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure is also preferred.
Compensation The base salary range for this position is $106,000 - $159,000 per year. This range represents the Company's good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans.
