Our Automotive Lighting division in North America is #1 in aftermarket retail and a key partner for OEM manufacturers. Our Hillsboro location is the North America Automotive Division Headquarters, which manufactures and distributes automotive lighting components worldwide.
The Mechanical Engineer will support automotive lighting product development, testing, and manufacturing engineering activities. This role offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, validation testing, data analysis, and cross-functional engineering support in a manufacturing and R&D environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Support the mechanical design and evaluation of automotive lighting products, components, housings, brackets, and assemblies.
Create and revise 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, mechanical specifications, and bills of material.
Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance-stack analysis, and design-for-manufacturing and assembly principles.
Support material and process selection for molded plastics, stamped metal, die-cast, machined, sealed, and thermally managed components.
Assist with prototype builds, fit and function assessments, dimensional inspection, and mechanical performance testing.
Plan and conduct validation testing, including vibration, shock, thermal, environmental, ingress-protection, durability, and mechanical-load evaluations as applicable.
Participate in design reviews, DFMEA activities, root-cause investigations, and failure analysis of product or manufacturing issues.
Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams on tooling, part feasibility, manufacturability, process capability, and corrective actions.
Support process optimization and continuous-improvement initiatives for product assembly and manufacturing processes.
Prepare and update test reports, engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and engineering-change records.
Collaborate with R&D, optical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and product engineering teams.
Perform hands-on lab work, data analysis, engineering calculations, and structured problem solving.
Who we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical background.
3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing preferred.
