Full Job Description
Mechanical Engineer, PE
Anchorage, Alaska | Full time
Good mechanical design makes a difference in how people experience a building and how reliably it serves them over time. CRW is looking for a mechanical engineer who wants to take ownership of HVAC projects, work closely with clients and teammates, and help develop the next generation of engineers.
You'll join a multidisciplinary firm working across Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Our projects include public buildings, commercial spaces, critical infrastructure, and facilities in remote communities. We value engineers who listen carefully, make practical decisions, and follow through-especially when climate, remote locations, and demanding building operations call for thoughtful solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead the mechanical design of building projects, primarily HVAC systems, from early concepts through construction documents and construction support.
- Design and coordinate heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing, and building control systems; contribute to fuel or utility systems projects as your experience fits.
- Work directly with clients, architects, and engineers from other disciplines to understand needs and resolve design challenges.
- Plan mechanical scope, schedules, and budgets in coordination with project and department leaders.
- Guide junior engineers through design decisions, review their work, and help them grow.
- Contribute to proposals, technical quality reviews, and the continued development of CRW's mechanical practice.
- Visit project sites, including occasional travel to remote Alaska communities.
What you'll bring
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Professional Engineer license, with an Alaska mechanical PE license or the ability to obtain one by comity within six months of hire.
- At least six years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including substantial responsibility for building HVAC design.
- The judgment to move work forward independently, recognize when to bring others in, and communicate decisions clearly.
- An interest in mentoring and in building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.
Cold climate design experience is especially valuable. We're also interested in engineers who have worked in other climates and are eager to apply their skills to Alaska's challenges.
We offer competitive pay, medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a strong employer 401(k) match, generous paid time off, end of year bonuses, and flexible schedules, including the option to work remotely two days per week.
Salary range: [add before posting].
