Mechanical Design Engineer II
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Employment Type: Salaried, Exempt
Galvion is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to join our Engineering team in Portsmouth, NH. In this role, youll help design and build the next generation of advanced electro-mechanical systems engineered to seamlessly integrate with the human body and perform in some of the worlds most demanding environments.
Youll work as part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team alongside
Program Managers, Industrial Designers, Systems Architects, and Electrical Engineers to turn innovative concepts into high-quality products.
What Youll Do
3 Design mechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, and electro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD/SolidWorks.
3 Create and review engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
3 Design packaging for rigid and flexible electronic circuits and interconnections.
3 Perform structural, thermal, heat-transfer, and tolerance-stack analyses.
3 Develop prototypes, assemble and test systems, and use 3D printers and shop tools to evaluate designs.
3 Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to support both low- and high-volume production.
3 Work with molded and machined components across a variety of materials.
3 Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality, repeatable assembly, delivery, and manufacturing capacity.
3 Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting, fault finding, and sustaining engineering activities.
3 Work closely with cross-functional engineering and product development teams to rapidly iterate designs.
3 Support continuous improvement and engineering excellence initiatives.
What Were Looking For
3 Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
3 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product development environment.
3 Strong experience with SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D CAD platform, including drawings and PDM.
3 Experience designing molded and machined parts.
3 Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
3 Experience performing engineering calculations and analyzing test data using Excel, MATLAB, or similar tools.
3 Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging mechanical problems.
3 Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
3 Clear written and verbal communication skills.
3 Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
3 A proactive, customer-focused, and "can-do" mindset.
The Work Environment
This is a hands-on engineering position that combines office-based design work with time spent in a manufacturing environment. Some travel between Galvion facilities may be required, with occasional international travel to Canada.
