Mechanical Coordinator - (Turnaround Project)The Mechanical Coordinator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of mechanical work scopes during a facility turnaround or project. The role acts as the primary liaison between contractors, supervision, planning, operations, and client representatives to ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety requirements, schedule milestones, quality standards, and budget expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Leadership- Promote and enforce all site safety policies, procedures, and client requirements.
- Ensure all personnel are competent, trained, and fit for duty.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, field inspections, and incident investigations.
- Verify required permits, hazard assessments, isolation requirements, and controls are in place prior to work execution.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions or acts are identified and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Work Execution & Coordination- Coordinate and oversee mechanical activities including equipment maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, and inspections.
- Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved work packages, engineering requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
- Facilitate communication between contractors, operations, maintenance, inspection, planning, and client personnel.
- Identify and resolve field execution issues to minimize impacts to turnaround progress.
Schedule Management- Monitor daily progress against turnaround schedules and milestone dates.
- Prioritize work activities to support critical path execution and turnaround objectives.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and support services to maintain productivity.
- Provide timely updates on progress, delays, risks, and mitigation plans.
Cost Control- Monitor labour, equipment, and material utilization to ensure cost-effective execution.
- Identify potential scope growth, change requests, and productivity impacts.
- Support accurate tracking of work performed, resource usage, and cost reporting.
- Work with client representatives and project controls to minimize unnecessary expenditures while maintaining safety and quality.
Quality Assurance- Ensure mechanical work complies with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and client requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, turnover documentation, and quality verification activities.
- Verify deficiencies are corrected and documented prior to equipment turnover.
Reporting & Communication- Attend daily coordination and client meetings.
- Provide clear communication regarding work status, safety performance, schedule impacts, and resource requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, outstanding items, and turnaround progress.
- Support final turnover, closeout documentation, and lessons learned activities.
