Key job responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 areas and front-line managers) and 100-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers
Attain organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of data center operations
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures
Meet and exceed operational goals with full accountability for results
Lead strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs
Obsess over team learning and development - both technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) - including mentoring and training
Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe
Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including Data Center Managers and Data Center Operations Technicians
Plan and execute the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center buildouts, colocation buildouts, data center expansions, and colocation expansions - including network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate daily operations
Leverage experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing of specific tasks, balancing internal skillsets with frugality
Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools
This role supports data centers in various operational stages. The position may be assigned to a facility still under development, which could require travel to established locations for training until your designated site becomes fully operational.
This position will support our MDD Data Center (Pecos, TX Region).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components
- 2+ years of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment experience, or experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- 7+ years management experience in an operations, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
- 3+ years' experience implementing LEAN/6 Sigma methodology (continuous improvement, DMAIC/DVADV, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc.
- Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Safety, security, and availability of incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.
- 7+ years' experience managing geographically dispersed teams
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with mission critical infrastructure
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
