Full Job Description

The Department of Pathology at Emplify Health by Gundersen, La Crosse, Wisconsin, is seeking a full-time BC/BE anatomic and clinical pathologist. The ideal candidate will have broad surgical pathology and cytopathology diagnostic skills. The candidate should also possess superior communication skills and be comfortable in leadership roles.

All surgical pathology and cytopathology diagnostic services currently provided by the pathologists at Emplify Health reside in the central core laboratory location in La Crosse.

  • Annual pathology volumes currently include:

    • Over 38,000 surgical cases

    • 11,000 Paps

    • 2,500 non-gynecologic cytology specimens

    • There is no autopsy service

    • Our PAs gross all surgicals

    • Call is currently 1:10

We offer a compensation package that is competitive to that of private/partnership practices, but with more stability and less risk of contract turnover due to mergers/acquisitions. A relaxed atmosphere and high degree of collegiality is found throughout the community and among the pathologists and laboratory staff in particular.

Must have completed an accredited graduate medical training program and be board certified or eligible within the area of medicine stated.   In addition, must have or be able to obtain a license to practice in our multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations.  Medical staff in our system will supervise advanced practice clinicians.   Medical staff may need to provide outreach service as part of their role in the system.  Teaching students, residents, fellows or clinical staff is cornerstone to our Medical Education philosophy and an expectation of all medical staff.
