Qualifications

• BS in Materials, Ceramics, Mechanical or related technical field.
• 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent education.
• Knowledge of failure analysis for superalloy and steel components.
• Expertise in materials and metallurgy, including chemistry and microstructure.
• Familiar with mechanical, physical, and environmental testing and data analysis.
• Work experience in a manufacturing or lab environment is preferred.
• Understanding of gas turbine coatings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate service component conditions using visual and non-visual methods.
• Characterize failure and fracture surfaces to identify locations and modes.
• Conduct microstructural analysis using techniques like optical microscopy, SEM, and EDS.
• Perform chemical analysis per established practices.
• Characterize materials for high-performance applications, including superalloys and ceramic coatings.
• Engage in failure analysis activities within the team.
• Communicate findings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Write technical reports, presentations, and specifications.
• Manage project schedules and budgets effectively.
• Support product qualification and material substitution efforts.
