Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic quality roadmaps for the Supplier Quality Management System.
  • Conduct gap analyses and internal audits to identify and address weaknesses in the QMS through continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute risk-based supplier audits as the lead auditor for critical suppliers, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Provide guidance to Material Quality Engineers on various Supplier-QMS activities including supplier qualifications and performance evaluations.
  • Standardize best practices in quality engineering for integration into the Supplier QMS.
  • Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives aligned with international standards like ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Prepare for and represent the Material Technology department in QMS audits, managing corrective action lifecycles effectively.

Position Summary

The mission of Material Technology is to provide SAS FAB with the highest quality raw materials & analysis in the world. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the development and enhancement of the Supplier Quality Management System (QMS) within the Material Technology department. They will work with Material engineers to identify and develop processes that allow improvements to performance and efficiency. The role is pivotal in ensuring department conformance to applicable QMS clauses, supplier adherence to quality standards and SAS/MT customer specific requirements, driving process optimizations, and executing comprehensive quality initiatives both internally at SAS and across the supplier network.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Develop and implement strategic quality roadmaps aimed at the continual enhancement of product quality and the overall Supplier Quality Management System within the Material Technology department.
  • Conduct thorough end-to-end gap analyses and internal audits to identify weaknesses within the existing QMS. Lead initiatives to address these gaps through continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support planning and execution of supplier audits using a risk-based approach. Act as the lead auditor for critical suppliers, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance to Material Quality Engineers on Supplier-QMS operational activities, including New Supplier Qualification, Supplier Change Management, ongoing supplier performance evaluations, and management of escalations.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize best practices in quality engineering to be integrated within the Supplier QMS. Implement both internally at SAS and at suppliers.
  • Actively participate in site-wide quality improvement task forces, particularly in alignment with international standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3. Contribute QMS insights to drive site-wide quality enhancements.
  • Prepare for and represent the Material Technology department in site-wide internal, customer, and third-party QMS audits. Own the lifecycle management of Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) stemming from audit findings and Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs), ensuring timely and effective resolution.


Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Computer Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
  • A minimum 4 years of experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Semiconductor or high-volume technical manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with global supply chains and multi-site quality process standardization is a plus.
  • Experience in audit methodologies, gap analysis, and quality improvement techniques such as Lean Six Sigma. Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus.


The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
