About This Role:The Material Planner, Mechanical is responsible for ensuring the production schedule is materially feasible for all mechanical components, including enclosures, structural fabrications, doors, and sheet metal. Working directly from the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and released Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), you will run MRP, maintain Clear-to-Build (CTB) status, manage shortages proactively, and lead the day-to-day supplier forecast and commitment cadence with fabrication vendors.
This role acts as the operational backbone bridging production planning, physical inventory, and strategic sourcing. Given the capacity constraints inherent in metal fabrication during high-volume build cycles, your ability to anticipate shortages, evaluate supplier capacity commits, and maintain accurate ERP planning parameters will be essential to keeping Crusoe's manufacturing lines running smoothly. This is a
Full-Time position.
What You'll Be Working On:- MRP Execution & Requirements Netting: Run MRP and BOM explosions for mechanical SKUs against the MPS, netting gross requirements against on-hand, on-order, and in-transit inventory.
- Clear-to-Build (CTB) Coverage: Maintain and refresh CTB coverage status by SKU and work center, accounting for supplier fabrication capacity constraints during peak production periods.
- Proactive Shortage Escalation: Identify potential material shortages ahead of floor execution, escalating to Strategic Sourcing for expedite or dual-source actions while tracking resolutions.
- Supplier Forecast & Commitment Cadence: Share rolling forecasts with mechanical and fabrication suppliers, secure lead-time and capacity commitments, and feed commits back into MRP within negotiated commercial frameworks.
- Planning Parameter Management: Set and maintain item-level ERP planning parameters (order policy, lot sizing, lead times, safety stock, make/buy flags, and time fences) at MBOM release.
- Inventory Accuracy & ABC Classification: Partner with Materials Management to reconcile ERP balances against physical stock, while maintaining ABC usage classification data for mechanical parts.
- S&OP Forum Representation: Represent the mechanical material and CTB constraint view during monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) reconciliations.
What You'll Bring to the Team:- Experience: 2-5+ years of dedicated material planning or MRP experience, ideally with exposure to fabricated metal, enclosures, structural steel, or related mechanical assemblies.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- System & Technical Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of MRP logic, complex manufacturing BOM structures, and ERP planning modules (e.g., Acumatica or similar systems).
- Supplier Coordination: Comfort working directly with fabrication suppliers to communicate rolling forecasts and secure firm delivery commitments.
- Data & Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and data management tools to maintain shortage tracking, CTB models, and net-requirement feeds.
Bonus Points:- APICS / ASCM certification, such as CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management).
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, modular enclosures, or data center hardware infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience using Acumatica ERP.
