POSITION OVERVIEW
The Master Plant Maintenance Technician leads and executes advanced mechanical maintenance activities across fixed plant systems at Pinto Valley Mine. This role focuses on critical process equipment including mills, pumps, flotation circuits, thickeners, filters, conveyors, and tailings systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
This position serves as a subject matter expert, providing advanced diagnostics, technical direction, and support to maintenance, reliability, and operations teams. The role drives continuous improvement, supports maintenance planning, and ensures work is completed to specification with minimal impact to production.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintenance Execution & Oversight: Lead and perform maintenance on fixed plant equipment, ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
• Advanced Diagnostics: Diagnose complex mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Technical Leadership: Provide direction to field teams during critical or high-risk repairs and serve as the escalation point for complex issues.
• Equipment Inspections: Conduct structural, mechanical, and hydraulic inspections on plant equipment including mills, pumps, flotation cells, thickeners, filters, and auxiliary systems.
• Planning & Coordination: Coordinate with planning, reliability, and execution teams to prioritize and schedule critical maintenance activities.
• Precision Maintenance: Oversee alignment, torqueing, balancing, and other precision tasks on rotating and stationary equipment
• Reliability & Continuous Improvement: Support condition monitoring programs (vibration, thermography, oil analysis) and lead root cause failure analysis to improve asset reliability.
• Quality Assurance: Validate completed work by internal teams and contractors to ensure compliance with tolerances, standards, and specifications.
• Systems & Reporting: Document maintenance activities, report deviations, and maintain accurate records in SAP PM or similar systems.
• Materials & Resources: Support management of critical spares, tools, and equipment to ensure readiness for maintenance activities.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow and enforce safety standards including LOTOTO, confined space, and environmental requirements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• High School Diploma or GED (technical degree preferred)
• Minimum 5-7+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance in concentrator plants, process plants, or tailings systems
• Strong knowledge of fixed plant mechanical systems including crushers, SAG/ball mills, conveyors, pumps, flotation circuits, and tailings systems
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using condition monitoring tools
• Experience with precision maintenance techniques including alignment and measurement
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, and power transmission
• Experience performing and supporting root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
• Knowledge of safety standards including LOTOTO and confined space procedures
• Experience with SAP PM or similar maintenance systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Preferred
• Technical or trade certification in mechanical maintenance or related field
• Experience leading crews or mentoring technicians
• Experience coordinating major maintenance or shutdown work
• Advanced condition monitoring experience (vibration, thermography, oil analysis)
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Field-based role in an active processing plant environment
• Working around heavy industrial equipment and rotating machinery
• Walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders
• Exposure to dust, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions
• Exposure to mechanical hazards including moving equipment and material handling
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas
