Overview

The Master Electrician is the senior technical authority for all electrical systems on site, responsible for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of facility electrical infrastructure. This role provides expert-level oversight of electrical work, ensures full compliance with federal, state, and industry codes, and supports mission-critical operations through reliable system performance. Working both independently and in coordination with engineering leadership, the Master Electrician leads electrical projects, troubleshoots complex issues, and guides junior electricians to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and safety

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the site's subject-matter expert for electrical systems, equipment, and code compliance.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, panels, controls, and related components.
  • Lead and oversee electrical projects from planning through completion, ensuring all work meets regulatory and contract requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues, providing technical direction to electricians and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Maintain strict adherence to NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and Department of State electrical standards.
  • Document work performed, update maintenance records, and support reporting requirements.
  • Ensure safe work practices, proper lockout/tagout procedures, and compliance with all company safety policies.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to electrical personnel.
  • Support emergency response efforts and remain available for after-hours issues as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:
  • Active Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Master Electrician License.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in commercial, industrial, or government facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards..
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and performing complex repairs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prior experience in the supervision of a workforce responsible for operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial building infrastructure systems.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able be able to conduct preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs from ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Work requires the incumbent to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in uncomfortable positions.
  • Ability to lift, carry and set up tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to and occasionally over fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be comfortable getting dirty, dusty, and greasy in an indoor or outdoor environment with frequent exposure to excessive noise.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.

Salary

$38.46/hr + $8/hr H&W
