Seattle, WA | Volvo | Scandinavian luxury | European brand | Volvo factory certification preferred | Master technician | Certified | Flat-rate | VIDA | Advanced diagnostics | EV | PHEV | Other brand master techs considered | Pacific Northwest | Seattle metro | Veterans encouraged to apply | $50/hr+ flat rate
IS THIS YOU?
• You're a Volvo factory-certified Master Technician - or a master-certified technician from another brand with the advanced diagnostic depth, platform experience, and professional standard to transition to Volvo - and your credentials reflect sustained performance, not just time in the chair
• You work at a level where complex electrical, drivetrain, and advanced systems diagnostics are the normal scope of your day - you're the technician others bring the difficult jobs to
• You're ready to bring that expertise to a well-run Seattle Volvo store with a loyal, values-driven ownership community and a rapidly expanding electrified lineup that rewards a technician at the top of their craft
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Diagnose and repair Volvo vehicles across the full scope of systems - advanced electrical, high-voltage EV and PHEV systems, engine, transmission, chassis, ADAS, and beyond - using VIDA diagnostic tools and Volvo OEM procedures
• Handle the shop's most complex diagnostic cases - vehicles that require advanced troubleshooting, intermittent fault resolution, and the kind of systematic thinking that separates a master technician from the rest of the team
• Serve as a technical resource for other technicians - supporting diagnostic questions, reviewing repair approaches, and contributing to the shop's overall technical capability
• Perform multi-point inspections and develop accurate repair plans - communicating findings clearly to service advisors to support guest authorization
• Execute repairs to Volvo OEM specifications with precision, speed, and zero-defect quality
• Maintain current Volvo factory certifications and stay ahead of platform updates - particularly across the rapidly evolving EV and PHEV model range
• Document all diagnostic findings and completed work accurately on repair orders
• Perform test drives to validate complex diagnostic conclusions and confirm repair quality before vehicle return
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Volvo factory Master Technician certification - required as the primary target for this role. Master-certified technicians from other brands (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Lexus, or equivalent European/luxury platforms) with strong advanced diagnostic backgrounds will be considered
• 5+ years of Volvo or European brand technician experience - advanced electrical, ADAS, high-voltage systems, and complex drivetrain diagnostics are the daily scope of this role
• VIDA diagnostic platform proficiency - or equivalent European OEM diagnostic tool expertise at a master level
• Demonstrated EV and PHEV diagnostic and repair experience - Volvo's electrified lineup is growing rapidly and high-voltage system competency is a genuine requirement
• A track record of accurate, efficient, high-complexity diagnostic work with a low comeback rate
• ASE Master Technician certification a strong plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
WHAT WE OFFER
• $50/hr+ flat rate - master technician rate reflecting your certification level and diagnostic depth
• Progressive pay plan - certifications and continued platform development recognized in your rate
• Paid Volvo manufacturer training and advanced certification support
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Life insurance and supplemental coverage options
• Paid time off and paid holidays
• Career path into shop foreman and service management roles for technicians ready to lead
• Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts
WHY VOLVO CARS SEATTLE
• Volvo's electrified lineup is one of the fastest-evolving platforms in the European luxury segment - the master technician who stays current on EV and PHEV diagnostics here is building expertise that becomes more valuable every model year
• Seattle's tech-forward, sustainability-oriented ownership community is one of the strongest Volvo markets in the Pacific Northwest - guests here are engaged with their vehicles and return to the technicians who take care of them at a consistently high standard
• A well-run Pacific Northwest Volvo store where the master technician's expertise sets the ceiling for the shop's capability - your work is visible, your standard is felt, and your contributions matter
• Swickard is one of the fastest-growing dealer groups in the country - ranked Top 5 in North America for reputation in the automotive industry
• Our HEART values - Honor, Engage, Anticipate, Respond, Thank - define how we treat our technicians and our guests in equal measure
If you're a Volvo-certified or master-level European brand technician with the advanced diagnostic depth and the professional standard to lead the technical work at a well-run Seattle Volvo store - we'd like to meet you.
