Position Summary

The Mass Properties Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing aircraft weight and balance activities throughout the aircraft completion process. This position ensures accurate mass properties data, supports engineering programs, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance, improve engineering processes, and advance digital transformation initiatives through automation and AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Weight & Balance Engineering (70%)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods for controlling aircraft weight and balance during assembly, installation, and final completion.
  • Support aircraft weighing activities and verify mass property data to ensure accuracy and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Coordinate directly with multiple engineering and production teams throughout the aircraft completion process.
  • Maintain comprehensive weight and balance records while supporting continuous improvements to mass properties processes and documentation.
  • Analyze and resolve engineering issues related to assigned projects using established engineering principles and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering personnel as needed.
  • Manage complex engineering assignments or lead smaller-scale projects from planning through completion.
  • Prepare engineering plans, monitor project schedules, and ensure assigned work is completed within established timelines.
  • Submit work for appropriate technical reviews and approvals to verify quality and compliance.
  • Apply company standards, engineering procedures, and organizational policies in all assigned activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement (20%)
  • Serve as a key point of contact between internal departments and international engineering teams.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve workflows, increase operational efficiency, and ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Stay informed of current engineering technologies, industry practices, and technical developments applicable to aircraft mass properties and related disciplines.
Digital Transformation & Industry Collaboration (5%)
  • Participate in global engineering initiatives to align with standards, digital transformation strategies, and evolving engineering processes.
  • Lead or contribute to projects focused on process automation, digital engineering tools, and workflow optimization.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve engineering productivity and data management.
Additional Responsibilities (5%)
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Travel domestically or internationally, up to approximately 5%, to support engineering activities, customer requirements, or business needs.
