Job Summary

The Marketing Project Team Lead within the corporate and shared services marketing team leads the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of marketing project management. This role owns marketing workflows, tools, and processes while managing a team responsible for coordinating day-to-day project delivery. The Marketing Project Team Lead serves as the strategic authority on how marketing work gets done, ensuring clarity, efficiency, accountability, and on-time delivery across all initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned project management leader with strong people management skills, a process-driven mindset, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to scale marketing operations.

Responsibilities

People & Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop a team of Marketing Project Managers and the Traffic Manager
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, workload balancing, and career development support
  • Set clear expectations and accountability for project intake, planning, execution, and delivery
  • Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement


Project Management Ownership

  • Lead all marketing project management activities across campaigns, content, digital, events, product launches, and brand initiatives
  • Ensure projects are scoped appropriately, prioritized effectively, and delivered on time and within agreed parameters
  • Resolve cross-functional delivery issues, project conflicts, and resource constraints that cannot be addressed by Project Managers or Traffic Management or escalate as appropriate
  • Partner with marketing leadership to align project execution with strategic priorities
  • Own portfolio delivery performance, prioritization decisions, and escalation resolution across the marketing project portfolio


Process, Workflow & Tool Optimization

  • Own workflow effectiveness and business usage of project management tools while partnering with Traffic Management on platform administration
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve intake, prioritization, resourcing, and delivery
  • Design and implement process improvements that scale with the organization
  • Drive consistency in project planning, execution, and reporting across all marketing teams
  • Establish and enforce project management standards, documentation, best practices, and governance requirements.
  • Lead training, adoption, and compliance efforts for project management processes, workflows, and tools.


Traffic & Resource Management

  • Oversee traffic management and capacity planning across the marketing team
  • Ensure work is routed, prioritized, and scheduled appropriately based on business need and team bandwidth
  • Partner with marketing leaders to forecast resourcing needs and identify constraints


Stakeholder Partnership & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between marketing, creative, sales, product, and external partners on project execution
  • Facilitate project intake, prioritization, and expectation-setting discussions with stakeholders
  • Provide clear, consistent visibility into project status, risks, and delivery timelines
  • Present insights and recommendations to marketing leadership
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage project budgets, resource requirements, and delivery expectations.


Reporting & Performance Measurement

  • Develop and maintain reporting on project throughput, SLA performance, resource utilization, on-time delivery, and operational effectiveness.
  • Own delivery performance across the marketing project portfolio, monitoring project health and identifying risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Use data and operational metrics to drive decision-making, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate performance results, operational insights, and recommendations to marketing leadership.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Project Management, Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience in marketing project management, marketing operations, or a related discipline withing corporate marketing or agency
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional marketing projects
  • Experience leading portfolio prioritization, capacity planning, and resource management within a marketing organization
  • Deep familiarity with marketing workflows across digital, content, creative, and campaign execution]
  • Strong proficiency with project management and traffic management tools (e.g., Wrike, Asana, Workfront, Smartsheet, Monday.com, Jira, or similar
