Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Market Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in DES's Strategy Office, building and running the company's competitive and market intelligence function. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this role monitors competitor, market, and regulatory signals across multiple public and internal sources, and turns them into structured, decision-ready outputs - briefs, dashboards, and recommendations - that leadership, sales, product, and the executive team rely on.

This is a synthesis role, not an aggregation role. The successful candidate will draw connections across subscription research, channel signals, strategic supplier relationships, regulatory filings, and digital signals to produce a point of view, applying genuine analytical judgment rather than just aggregating what each source reports.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Monitor competitor, market, and regulatory signals across multiple public sources (BMI Market Intelligence, Ohm Analytics, LinkedIn, competitor websites, regulatory filings, trade publications) and internal channels, including strategic supplier relationships.
  • Run primary and secondary research and triangulate across sources to confirm signals before they reach the brief.
  • Synthesize findings into structured, decision-ready outputs - a monthly intelligence brief, dashboards, and recommendations - for leadership.
  • Partner cross-functionally with sales, product, strategy, and the executive team to keep intelligence outputs aligned with active decisions.
  • Administer the team's intelligence infrastructure and tools - trackers, source library, and research platforms - so the monitoring workflow stays current and usable.

Required Qualifications & Characteristics:
  • Genuine analytical synthesis and judgment - demonstrated ability to turn multi-source signals into a clear, decision-oriented narrative, not just aggregate or summarize.
  • Strong written communication skills for executive audiences; comfortable producing polished, decision-ready materials under a recurring monthly cadence.
  • 3+ years of relevant research or intelligence experience.
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating with minimal supervision.
  • Tech-tool fluency, including AI-assisted research tools, to work efficiently across a high volume of sources.
  • Ability to distinguish signal from noise, evaluate source quality and reliability, and clearly tell leadership what the intelligence actually shows.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications & Characteristics:
  • Energy storage, BESS, or clean-energy domain familiarity.
  • Experience with named intelligence platforms - BMI Market Intelligence, Ohm Analytics, BloombergNEF, Wood Mackenzie, or comparable tools.
  • Prior consulting or corporate-strategy background.
  • Presentation skills for senior stakeholders.

Location:
  • Candidates must be located in the Lower Mainland.
  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days per week in the Richmond, BC office and 2 days per week remote.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Bonus: Eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary.
  • Benefits: This role includes standard company benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and other applicable employee programs
