Mid-level Marine Mechanical Engineer (Auxiliary) to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)'s Ship Design Team in Baltimore, MD. Ideal candidate will have prior experience with design, optimization, and integration of marine auxiliary and piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and/or weight handling systems calculations and analyses, and familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.

Requirements

Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, to include, but not limited to: auxiliary systems, hydraulics weight handling equipment, rudders, piping, pumps, valves, and HVAC, and apply to applicable design and requirements.

Develop system documentation and ship specifications.

Conduct analysis and design of auxiliary systems, lead development of technical data packages and reviews.

Conduct trade studies.

Physical Job Requirements

Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.

Education/Certification Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.

At least three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical fields.

Overall experience must include at least three (3) years of documented experience with design, optimization, and integration of marine auxiliary and piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and/or weight handling systems calculations and analyses.

Familiarity with ABS, USN, and industry standards relating to shipboard auxiliary systems.

Proficient with common productivity software.

Strong communications skills.

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs.

Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.
