Full Job Description
Job Summary:
Mercury Systems is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Test Engineer III to design and develop test procedures for execution by test technicians on the manufacturing floor. This role will focus on supporting production needs through process improvements, debugging unhealthy Work-In-Progress (WIP), and driving Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to ensuring the efficiency, quality, and reliability of Mercury's advanced electronics and RF products, which are critical to our nation's defense.
Job Responsibilities:
Test Procedure Development: Create and refine test procedures and methodologies for RF and electronic assemblies, ensuring alignment with production requirements and quality standards.
Production Support: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify and implement process improvements, reduce cycle times, and enhance production efficiency.
WIP Debugging: Lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve issues in unhealthy WIP, ensuring on-time delivery and maintaining product quality.
RCCA Execution: Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to address manufacturing defects and improve processes.
Automated Testing Support: Assist in the development and implementation of automated product testing solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including specifications, processes, and reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, program management, and technical project teams to ensure smooth integration of test solutions into production workflows.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to aerospace, defense, and high-reliability manufacturing standards, including MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-STD-883, and other applicable requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field. Would also consider equivalent years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree.
Typically requires 3+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, RF module testing, or related roles within high-reliability, aerospace, or defense electronics manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in RF/Microwave, analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit testing at the module and component level.
Experience with RF test equipment such as signal generators, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement test procedures for production environments.
Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and RCCA investigations (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D).
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB) and statistical process control (SPC).
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience with automated test development and programming production processes including ATP and ESS.
Familiarity with failure analysis methods such as X-ray, CSAM, SEM/EDS, and visual inspection.
Knowledge of high-reliability manufacturing standards, including MIL-PRF-38535, NASA workmanship standards, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or similar.
Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
"This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens."
