Full Job Description
The Manufacturing Manager at Mott is a hands-on leader who serves as a mentor, coach, and role model for frontline manufacturing teams. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about developing people, optimizing manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement. Manufacturing Supervisors play a critical role not only in daily operations but also in shaping a workplace that is safe, efficient, and engaging.

Mott leads the industries it serves in lead time, performance, and quality. The Manufacturing Supervisor partners closely with Value Stream Managers and cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce lead time, improve quality, control cost, and enhance the overall employee experience. Success in this role is measured through safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and track competency development of manufacturing operators.
  • Manage daily workflow and staffing to ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards.
  • Support and execute continuous improvement initiatives across all shifts, including equipment testing, training, 5S, automation, and process simplification.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and teamwork.
  • Ensure effective communication across shifts, including structured handoffs of priorities and issues.


Major Challenges
  • Maintaining effective communication and task continuity across multiple shifts.
  • Driving operational improvements while consistently meeting delivery performance targets.
  • Managing rapid changes in product mix and production volume through effective planning and workforce deployment.


Expected Performance Outcomes
  • Identify and close safety risks in a timely and effective manner.
  • Achieve greater than 90% on-time shipment to customer requested dates.
  • Support initiatives that reduce manufacturing cost and cycle time by up to 50%.
  • Assist the team in implementing process improvements that result in zero customer returns attributable to manufacturing quality.


Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience.
  • Prior direct supervisory or people-management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving, project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Experience leading teams and managing employee performance and development.
  • Technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $88,200.00 - $132,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
