Job Description:

Basic Function

This position is responsible for supporting production processes and daily operations for new and existing products for assigned Business Units to optimize efficiency and performance. This position will use the ITW toolbox to drive the attainment of quality, cost, and delivery objectives and perform these tasks in line with the requirements of the ISO9001 quality system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the development of processes and changes to process instructions (OMS) by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; and conferring with equipment vendors. Provide technical expertise and maintenance related to manufacturing and production equipment, including responding quickly and efficiently. Interface with Design Engineering on new product design and introduction, as well as product changes, to ensure cost effectiveness, manufacturing feasibility, and productivity are considered at every step of the process. Assist in the development of fixture design and improve existing fixtures for poke-yoke or error-proofing and quality assurance. Support hardware and software validations on production equipment prior to release to operations and ensure processes are followed to release through ECN. Support new product development by leading Gate 5 pre-pilot and pilot activities, including reports and recommendations, and participate in PFMEA completion. Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing key performance indicators (ie. yield/scrap/rework) and use that information to identify and implement improvements in manufacturing. Review, communicate, and implement engineering change orders to sustain production, reduce cost, and improve yield. Provide guidance to manufacturing technicians, team leads, and operators. Work independently with minimal supervision. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering Required (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Preferred)
  • 2+ years manufacturing, engineering, electro-mechanical, semi-conductor or flow controls industry preferred.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Working experience with statistical process control (SPC) preferred.

The work environment characteristics require exposure to both a production and office setting, while being subjected to moderate to high noise levels while performing the essential functions of the position.
