Job Description

Plant Manager plans, directs and manages all plant operations at the Horton Automatics manufacturing facility located in Matamoros, Mexico and is responsible for attaining volume and financial objectives while working to improve the competitive position and profitability of manufacturing operations. The Plant Manager operates in a matrix environment through corporate Overhead Door Company, requiring effective collaboration with corporate functional leaders, shared services, and cross-functional business partners to align plant execution with enterprise standards, strategic priorities, compliance requirements, and business performance objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Allocating resources effectively and utilizing assets with the goal of increasing production while maintaining current cost and quality standards.
  • Leading with influence by partnering with supply chain, engineering, maintenance, purchasing and other support organizations to ensure manufacturing runs safely, smoothly and efficiently.
    • Increasing the ratio of value to non-value for manufacturing by facilitating the identification waste.
    • Aligning resources and actions to accomplish flow and provide value as perceived by the customer
  • Ensuring a culture of high performance and high involvement is achieved.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operation and cost factors.
  • Establishes and sustains disciplined daily management processes, including structured tier meetings, visual management, issue escalation, root cause follow-up, and consistent review of safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and productivity performance.
  • Creates, owns, and drives achievement of plant-level KPIs and operating metrics, ensuring goals are clearly defined, measurable, reviewed regularly, and translated into actionable priorities for supervisors, support functions, and production teams.
  • Maintains a strong focus on execution and accountability by setting clear expectations, assigning ownership, tracking commitments to closure, addressing performance gaps promptly, and ensuring corrective actions deliver sustained operational improvement.
  • Directs operation of departments and guides supervisors in the performance of their duties. Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth.
  • Sets up and / or approves production schedules to ensure that goals are met and finished goods inventories and shipments are maintained in accordance with promised delivery dates.
  • Champions flow of materials and utilization of labor to fulfill production requirements.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, planning, scheduling, maintenance and quality assurance activities.
  • Manages the maintenance function to ensure optimized uptime, reliability, and readiness of the facility, production equipment, tooling, and utilities in support of safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Coordinates improvements for tooling, equipment and manufacturing methods.
  • Drives focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost and other production standards.
  • Accountable for customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, cost reduction and achievement of financial plan.
  • Coordinates problem solving sessions to continuously improve operational performance where appropriate.
  • Keeps up with current best practices and concepts within the plant management industry
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:
  • Typical work environment is in an office setting at the Matamoros, Mexico factory but also requires regular time in the production environment.
  • Exposure to hot and cold environments in the office and factory.
  • Requires close cooperation with maquiladora administrative staff to ensure disciplined execution of administrative processes, regulatory requirements, labor practices, documentation, reporting, and full compliance with applicable company, local, state, federal, and maquiladora operating requirements.
