Job DescriptionPosition has direct responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all production lines assigned. The role also has responsibility for prioritizing the work assignments for the maintenance associates and manufacturing process engineers assigned to their lines to effectively support manufacturing operations. The shift production team reports directly to this position. Position is responsible for fostering a team focused work environment to achieve plant to achieve or exceed plant and company goals and objectives in the areas of EH&S, quality, productivity, reliability, cost, continuous improvement and financial performance.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities - Manages the manufacturing functions on all shifts: championing the safety culture and compliance, planning the production flow, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, handling staffing issues, monitoring production orders and schedules, etc.
- Develops and analyzes production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Develops and works with Supervisors and/or Production Leads. Provides assistance to employees in solving work-related problems. Works with Human Resources to determine the most effective resolution(s).
- Supports the training and development of Production associates by providing standard operational and working practices to assure an efficient reliable operation; observes associates to ensure compliance with necessary accountability.
- Effectively collaborates with teams internal and external to the plant to meet or exceed all plant expectations.
- Identifies projects and methods to improve performance in all areas of manufacturing.
- Acts as site lead in absence of Plant Manager. Assures that all teams are functioning well without Plant Manager on site.
- Develops and nurtures a healthy plant culture to assure safe and quality operations.
- Other projects/duties as assigned.
Physical/Environ. DemandsRequires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening. Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs. May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Experience:- Manufacturing experience, with prior leadership responsibility required
- Composites or Plastics industry
- Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement training/certifications
- SAP (ERP)
- MS Office
