This role focuses on improving manufacturing methods, product quality, throughput, and process consistency within a value stream. The engineer will collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management to support daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and new product introductions (NPI) while ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for cable assemblies, connector assemblies, and related subsea interconnect solutions.
· Create and maintain detailed work instructions, assembly procedures, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing documentation.
· Support molding, potting, soldering, bonding, curing, assembly, leak testing, pressure testing, and inspection processes associated with manufacturing.
· Identify opportunities for waste reduction, cycle-time improvements, yield enhancement, and process stabilization through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
· Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions for production and quality issues.
· Provide daily engineering support to production personnel to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
· Design, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, gauges, and test equipment to improve productivity and product consistency.
· Drive resolution of nonconformances, scrap trends, rework issues, and manufacturing bottlenecks.
· Collaborate with Design Engineering to evaluate product designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly optimization.
· Participate in prototype builds, process development activities, and transitions from engineering development to production.
· Support qualification builds, first article inspections (FAIs), validation testing, and process capability studies.
· Analyze manufacturing metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and reduce cost.
· Train operators and technicians on manufacturing processes, equipment, quality requirements, and best practices.
· Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), process change validations, and configuration management activities.
· Maintain accurate documentation within Teledyne's ERP and Quality Management Systems.
