Full Job Description
We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role will plan, lead, and execute projects related to preventative and predictive maintenance programs, procedures, and process documentation using comprehensive knowledge of steel fabrication equipment, Lean/6, and maintenance excellence principles. This position will also support capacity and capital equipment analysis and utilization from concept through implementation. The ideal candidate will be passionate about optimizing manufacturing operations, equipment reliability, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring product quality.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and refine processes and programs by applying continuous improvement, maintenance excellence, and key Lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
  • Be the subject matter expert in various facets of manufacturing and reliability, including preventative and predictive maintenance, procedure development and cost analysis.
  • Develop innovative solutions to manufacturing production challenges and implement robust solutions through proven manufacturing processes with particular emphasis on machining, milling, and turning. Consult with suppliers and solicit feedback from operators to find optimal solutions.
  • Increase manufacturing safety and efficiency by improving work methods, material flow, tooling/jigs/fixtures, plant layout, routings, developing and implementing training and/or computer programs/systems, etc. Analize all new processes for safety, financial payback, quality enhancement, etc.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOP) capturing current production processes while implementing safety, ergonomic, quality, and production rate improvements.
  • Design and optimize work cell layouts and process flows, ensuring an efficient and effective production environment.
  • Work with the design engineering team to drive design for manufacturability, improve efficiencies, and overall product quality.
  • Be on demand support to manufacturing when issues with processes, procedures, or manufacturability arise.
  • Address issues found through exception events (such as non-conformances, temporary deviations, etc.) through the identification of root cause and corrective actions.

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment including: lean tools, automation, and capital projects.
  • A thorough understanding of steel fabrication, machining, and assembly processes (milling, turning, fastening, roll forming, welding, sawing etc.).
  • Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience with knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Previous experience related to implementation of new products, new equipment, new processes, and product changes in manufacturing.
  • A track record of problem solving, identifying errors and deficiencies and implementing improvements.
  • Effective communicator with production teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain high level of accuracy.
