Job Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineer- Moulding is responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of new products from Advanced Product Development to Operations. Follow the Advance Product Quality Planning (Trax) established practice. Lead the advanced manufacturing team and support teams to a flawless launch. Apply technical knowledge and expertise to ensure robust manufacturing process design prior to launch and lead production improvement projects. Manage performance deliverables such as implementation of CI suggestions, scrap reduction initiatives and OEE improvements through the launch of new business or projects assigned by management. Supporting technical and manufacturing solutions; including engineering and design to achieve goals and objectives relating to research and development, organizational projects and services for continuous improvement and risk reduction.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible to ensure smooth transition of new products from Advanced Product Development (Quoting) to Operations
  • Participate in all molding related quote activities, including evaluation of part designs for manufacture, estimate number of cavities per mold based on machine size, calculation of mold tonnage, material capacity. Recommend changes to part design to improve profitability and part function.
  • Obtain Injection Molding Machine and secondary capital equipment quotes for molding related equipment.
  • Obtain mold quotes from tooling vendors. Negotiate pricing based on comparative analysis of quotes.
  • Obtain secondary process quotes for EOAT's and Gate Cutting equipment. Also quote and manage any molding related capital equipment.
  • Ensure all aspects of launch is coordinated including materials, machinery, manpower, measurements, and methods.
  • Assisting in part design activities with design source and provide feasibility directives for ease of manufacturing and reducing cost.
  • Will follow the Advance Product Quality Planning (Trax) established practice.
  • Support in the development of Process Control Plans and Process Flow Charts
  • Development and maintain documentation for PFMEA, Operator Instructions, Rework, Change-over procedure and instruction, Manufacturing Engineering Open Issues, and Continuous Improvement Program
  • Will have the objective of a flawless launch - no quality or delivery concerns executed at minimum cost. Program Launch Excellence Targets by Phase.
  • Ensures new product Launch Key Milestone dates, Launch KPI's, Test Incidents, Customer Rejects and High-Risk Items are tracked with status, timing and action plans to close.
  • Co-ordinate, lead, and participate in various multi-disciplined teams in addressing and fulfilling various corporate objectives associated with, manufacturing process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitment.
  • Work with our suppliers, as required to resolve process deviations. Reduce scrap and maximize efficiencies.
  • Reviewing facilities and equipment requirements with relevant internal and external customers/suppliers
  • Facilitates the monthly Launch Readiness report out to Senior Management with the Program Manager and CFT for each new product launch using the standardized Launch Readiness format.

  • Facilitates transfer of knowledge and lessons learned from previous and ongoing launches.
  • Provides leadership and direction on specific launch issues.
  • Responsible to escalate open issues to Senior Management when required.
  • Tracks all launch related Customer Quality Rejections by Program, end item product and by type of issue (root cause) with the support of the CFT. Tracks interim and permanent corrective actions with timing to close.
  • Maintains the Launch Readiness Training module.
  • Mentor and training for CFT members.
  • Displays a positive approach to the continuous improvement and keeps current with new products, processes, materials and equipment technologies.
  • Ensures Timely and open communication with the customer specific to launch issues.
  • Participates in Open Issues launch tracking meetings and Launch Readiness Wall Reviews.
  • Conducts safe launch audits with the support of the Program Managers and Quality
  • Review Project related Capital and Tooling budgets weekly.
  • Ensure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.


EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Degree/Diploma, or applicable trade.
  • Min. 5 years+ experience in a similar role. Conducts higher-level analysis. Prioritizes tasks to take action, works with partial responsibility and minimal supervision

Compensation Range: $85,000- 90,000/ year
