Position Overview:
A Manufacturing Engineer III is a senior-level engineering professional responsible for leading complex manufacturing improvement initiatives, capital projects, process optimization efforts, and technical problem-solving activities. This role works out of Regal Rexnord’s Union Grove, WI site which is the center of excellence for gear boxes.
The role serves as a subject matter expert within the manufacturing organization, providing technical leadership across multiple production areas while driving improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost that support operational excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical lead for assembly and other manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems.
- Act as a key technical resource for production, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams.
- Provide engineering leadership for major plant initiatives and strategic improvement projects.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and process governance across manufacturing operations.
Safety Leadership
- Champion safety initiatives and foster a proactive safety culture throughout manufacturing operations.
- Lead risk reduction efforts through engineering controls, machine guarding improvements, and ergonomic enhancements.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable safety standards and regulations.
Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement
- Lead high-impact initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and operational efficiency.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical analysis tools to drive sustainable improvements.
- Lead root cause investigations into chronic manufacturing and quality issues.
- Analyze process performance data and identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve manufacturing capability.
Capital Equipment and Facility Projects
- Lead capital expenditure projects from concept development through implementation and project closeout and ensure projects meet safety, quality, financial, and operational objectives.
- Develop business cases, cost justifications, ROI calculations, and project schedules.
- Specify, evaluate, select, and commission manufacturing equipment, automation systems, tooling, and fixtures.
- Coordinate with and communicate to suppliers, contractors, maintenance personnel, and operations teams during project execution.
Manufacturing Excellence
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies that support long-term plant growth and competitiveness.
- Drive standardization of processes, work instructions, and operational controls.
- Support new product introductions through process design, equipment qualification, and production readiness activities.
- Evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and recommend implementation opportunities.
Quality and Regulatory Compliance
- Lead cross-functional corrective and preventive action activities. Partner with Quality to improve process capability and reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with customer, quality, environmental, and safety requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment. Extensive experience with assembly processes.
- Demonstrated success leading complex process improvement and capital project initiatives. Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with root cause analysis, statistical problem solving, and process optimization.
- Proficiency in manufacturing performance metrics and data analysis.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machining, metalworking, tooling, automation, or high-volume manufacturing.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification, or willingness to .
- Experience managing simultaneous initiatives and projects, especially plant transformation or automation projects.
- Knowledge of ERP, MES, and manufacturing data systems.
