Job SummaryThis role is focused on working with customers and operations to grow Fralock's technical ceramics business by creating manufacturing documentation and drawing packages to enable new products. The position assists design and process engineering in the development of fabrication process documentation and new product introductions at manufacturing facilities in Poway and Fremont, California. The Manufacturing Engineer I collaborates with Operations, Process Engineering, Business Development, Quality, and Engineering to execute key projects supporting the successful growth of the ceramics business.

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
- Review engineering documents and create Bills of Materials and production routings in the ERP system.
- Create manufacturing instructions and drawing packages in SolidWorks for new product introduction.
- Collaborate with design and process engineers and area leads to develop and implement new ceramic manufacturing processes on the factory floor.
- Manage process transfer to manufacturing by supporting process engineering through gate and exit processes, including process descriptions, process limits, work instructions, and specifications.
- Serve as a contact point to address out-of-specification problems reported by manufacturing operations in a timely manner.
- Assist with work-center process design and development for new products, including equipment, setup, tooling, process steps, and manufacturing instructions.
- Collaborate across departments regarding product design to ensure effective production methods.
- Research new and existing equipment and machines to improve manufacturing efficiency within defined cost, quality, and volume targets.
- Work within QA/QC procedures and understand their scope, application, waiver documentation, and procedures.
- Follow all safety standards and procedures, including PPE requirements for a manufacturing environment.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations.
- Other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills- Strong SolidWorks knowledge and ability to create and tolerance drawings.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and solve problems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Preferred Skills- Past experience in ceramic and/or glass component manufacturing.
- Self-motivated, results- and action-oriented, and a strong team player.
- Capable of using CAD and CAM software.
- Arduino programming skills.
- Hands-on aptitude.
- Experience with multilayer ceramic manufacturing
- Custom process tooling design experience.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485.
Education Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering preferred, or an engineering-related discipline.
Experience Requirements- 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: ceramics manufacturing, sintering, powder processing, or prototype production
Physical Requirements- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
- Able to spend the day sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving through a manufacturing environment.
- Able to use computers, hand tools, measuring equipment, and production or laboratory equipment as required.
Working Conditions- 50/50 office and manufacturing environment with regular visits to production areas. Exposure to manufacturing equipment, ceramic materials, dust controls, noise, and elevated-temperature processes may occur. Required personal protective equipment must be worn as applicable. #ZR
