Full Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve CNC machining processes for precision manufactured components. This role serves as the technical expert for CNC programming, tooling, fixture design, and process optimization while partnering with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations to improve efficiency, quality, and manufacturing performance. This position is located onsite at our customers facility within an hour of Savannah, GA.

Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Machining

Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers using CAM software.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing processes, setup sheets, work instructions, and tooling documentation.
  • Improve machining processes, cycle times, machine utilization, and product quality.
  • Select tooling, cutting parameters and fixture designs for efficient production.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and production issues.
  • Support prototype builds, new product introductions, and design for manufacturability reviews.
  • Analyze production data to reduce setup time, scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Evaluate new tooling, machining technologies, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide technical support and training to production teams while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in CNC programming, precision machining, manufacturing engineering, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, G-code programming, and CAM software.
  • Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience with tooling selection, fixture design, and machining process optimization.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and process optimization is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and production launch activities.
  • Knowledge of statistical process improvement techniques and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing new machining technologies and capital equipment.
  • Ability to mentor manufacturing personnel and provide technical leadership on the production floor.

Salary Range: $80,000-$150,000/yr commensurate with experience
