Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly serves as a key driver of manufacturing excellence by leading engineering-based improvements throughout the assembly process while supporting workforce development and operational efficiency. This role requires a highly organized, self-motivated individual capable of independently managing projects from concept through implementation while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The Manufacturing Engineer will spend significant time in the assembly environment developing deep product knowledge, understanding manufacturing challenges, and identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety, throughput, and labor efficiency. Through close collaboration with engineering, operations, planning, quality, and technical subject matter experts, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop practical manufacturing solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.

This position is responsible for facilitating meetings, developing and executing project plans, establishing labor standards, improving manufacturing methods, reducing cycle times, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role requires strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders, build productive relationships, and effectively drive change across all stages of the product lifecycle from sales through shipping.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Assigned Control
  • Manufacturing engineering deliverables supporting assembly operations.
  • Development and integration of trade-specific daily plans into Assembly Build Sequence (ABS) templates.
  • Review and validation of manufacturing engineering drawings to ensure accuracy, buildability, and efficient execution.
  • Development of methods to collect and analyze shop-floor feedback, process metrics, and labor performance data.
  • Review of completed projects to improve labor standards, estimating accuracy, and duration planning.
  • Creation of process flows, work instructions, and standard work to support operational excellence.
  • Lead manufacturing improvement projects from concept through implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a strong shop-floor presence to develop product knowledge, validate processes, and identify improvement opportunities.


Accountable For
  • Accuracy, completeness, and timely release of Assembly Build Sequence (ABS) plans.
  • Planning, preparation, and leadership of manufacturing and assembly kickoff meetings.
  • Facilitation of cross-functional meetings and execution of action plans supporting project objectives.
  • Preparation and communication of assembly progress, performance, and improvement metrics.
  • Development and implementation of manufacturing engineering standards and best practices.
  • Successful execution of manufacturing projects from initiation through implementation and validation.

Influence
  • Manufacturing design standards, buildability, and product quality.
  • Continuous improvement of assembly processes, manufacturing capabilities, and employee training.
  • Assembly manufacturing documentation and improvement.

  • Must have 3-5 years' experience with manufacturing process flow and design.
  • Must have experience with Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving methodologies.
  • Must have 2+ years' experience with design of build processes and supporting systems.
  • Must be computer literate in Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, 2D/3D Modeling, CADWorx, ISO diagrams.
  • Should have basic understanding ISO 9000 series quality management systems.
  • Working knowledge of various industry codes and local regulations, ANSI, ASTM, AWS, NACE, API, ASIC, SSPC, etc.
  • Highly developed personal communication skills: ability to communicate and motivate effectively.
