Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer for our Metallurgical & Corrosion Engineering Practice in Chicago, IL or Warrenville, IL. In this role, you will work as part of a team to have a significant role in developing business and expanding the practice in your technical area of expertise.

You will be responsible for
  • Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities
  • Significantly increasing Exponent's metallurgical and corrosion engineering consulting efforts, particularly in laboratory-based analysis
  • Analyzing a wide variety of safety, performance, and reliability issues related to metallurgical and corrosion engineering using field inspections, engineering analysis and experimental testing
You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
  • At least 5 – 10 years of related professional experience
  • Licensure as a professional engineer (PE or P. Eng) in Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Specialized knowledge of operating a laboratory with materials characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, FIB, TEM, EDS, XPS, Auger, SIMS, FTIR, acoustic microscopy, X-ray)
  • Litigation experience as a testifying expert is preferred but not required.
  • Business development experience with a proven track record
  • The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in their field
  • Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff, and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individualsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • A record of professional papers and presentations, and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the US, no immigration sponsorship or visa processing required

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
