Job Description
We're looking for our next Deputy Managing Editor - an ambitious, driven and collaborative journalist ready to help lead a newsroom built for the future of public media. In this role, you'll assign, edit and supervise a team of reporters, working closely with fellow newsroom leaders to deliver original, essential news for Boston and Massachusetts, with a focus on politics, immigration, transportation, criminal justice and breaking news. Reporting to the Managing Editor, you'll oversee every stage of story production - from assignment to publication - across audio and digital, bringing a sharp editorial eye to everything from a punchy headline to a compelling host intro. You'll lead the newsroom's election coverage and edit WBUR's weekly newsletter Mass. Politics. As the editor in charge of our breaking news rotation, you'll work with every reporter in the newsroom at some point. We're looking for a highly skilled editor who is as comfortable producing great audio storytelling as immersive digital journalism, and who is genuinely invested in developing reporters - sharpening their instincts, strengthening their voice, and helping them grow into more versatile storytellers. You're energized by coaching talent, excited to innovate, and committed to building an inclusive, collaborative newsroom where great journalism thrives.
