Full Job Description
White Elephant Resorts is seeking an experienced Managing Director/Dockmaster of Marina Operations to lead the daily and long-term operations of the Nantucket Boat Basin. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while overseeing marina operations, team performance, financial results, safety and regulatory compliance, maintenance, and capital planning.

The ideal candidate is an experienced marina leader with a strong hospitality background who is comfortable leading from the docks as well as managing the business behind the operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day marina operations while maintaining White Elephant Resorts' standards for service, safety, and hospitality.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and manage marina employees while building a professional, service-focused team.
  • Ensure an exceptional experience for marina guests and respond effectively to special requests, concerns, and complaints.
  • Manage marina revenues, expenses, operating controls, budgets, and profitability.
  • Develop annual and long-term operating, sales, marketing, and capital plans.
  • Maintain the marina, docks, facilities, equipment, vessels, and vehicles in first-class condition.
  • Develop and manage a five-year capital plan for marina property and assets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain relationships and coordinate requirements with the U.S. Coast Guard, Nantucket Harbor Master, Town Health Inspector, Fire Chief, Conservation Commission, OSHA, Homeland Security, and other regulatory partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of marina services, slip inventory, rates, availability, arrivals, departures, promotions, and scheduled groups.
  • Work closely with Front Desk, Concierge, Dock Attendants, Fuel Dock Attendants, Pump Out Attendants, Engineering, Security, and other White Elephant Resorts teams.

This is an active, hands-on position that requires working throughout the marina, including docks, piers, offices, and public areas. The role involves indoor and outdoor work in changing weather conditions and requires the ability to perform the physical functions associated with marina operations, including transporting items weighing approximately 40 pounds.
