Job description

Job Type: Full-Time | Location: Remote- TX | Department: Procurement | Reporting to: Head of Procurement | Work Location Type: #remote

IREN is building data centers at pace, and we're looking for a Manager, Third Party Logistics & Warehousing to build the offsite warehousing network that keeps that program moving. Reporting to the Director, Warehousing, Inventory Control & Logistics, you'll select and manage our 3PL and warehousing partners, design the receiving, storage, staging and release processes at each facility, and own the accuracy of all inventory held offsite. This is a build role, not a maintenance one: you'll stand up storage capacity quickly, put repeatable SOPs and inventory controls in place, and lead the move from spreadsheets to a formal inventory management platform. While our Logistics Manager handles freight, customs and internal equipment movement, you own everything from the warehouse gate until material is released to site. If you want the autonomy to design something from scratch and see your work directly enable a major infrastructure build, this role is for you.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in warehousing, 3PL management, or inventory operations, including 3+ years leading teams and/or third party providers.
  • Demonstrated experience standing up new warehouse or 3PL facilities - site selection input, layout, SOP design and go-live.
  • Hands-on experience selecting and managing 3PL warehousing providers, including contract negotiation, SLA/KPI governance and cost control.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse and inventory control disciplines - receiving, put-away, cycle counting, stock accuracy, kitting and staging.
  • Practical WMS/ERP experience, including moving operations from manual or spreadsheet-based tracking onto a formal system.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to hold providers to account and work effectively across construction, engineering and finance teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30-40% to warehouses, logistics hubs and active construction sites.
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting data center, hyperscale, colocation or large industrial capital construction programs.
  • Familiarity with long-lead electrical/mechanical equipment (switchgear, generators, transformers, UPS, cooling systems) and IT hardware handling.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or an equivalent supply chain credential.
  • Exposure to bonded warehousing, foreign trade zones, or import staging operations.
  • Experience applying Lean/Six Sigma or continuous-improvement methodologies in a warehousing environment.
  • Travel, as required (domestic, up to 30-40%)

Job responsibilities

Offsite Warehousing Establishment
  • Identify, evaluate and stand up offsite warehousing capacity to support the U.S. data center build program, providing site selection, layout and capacity planning input to the Director.
  • Define the operating model for each facility - receiving, put-away, storage, staging, kitting and outbound release - and document it as repeatable standard operating procedures.
  • Establish material handling, storage, housekeeping and security standards, and ensure each location meets OSHA and company EHS requirements.
  • Run site readiness activities for new facilities: racking and yard layout, materials handling equipment, labour plans, signage and access control.
  • Manage facility cost, space utilization and scalability as project volumes ramp up and down across the build schedule.
Third Party Logistics (3PL) Partner Management
  • Lead the selection of 3PL warehousing and value-added service providers - RFI/RFP, site audits, scope definition and commercial evaluation - in partnership with Procurement.
  • Negotiate and manage 3PL contracts, rate cards and statements of work, including storage, handling and accessorial charges.
  • Own day-to-day provider relationships and governance: service-level agreements, KPI reviews, escalation paths and continuous-improvement plans.
  • Validate and challenge 3PL invoicing and accessorials, and drive cost-reduction and productivity initiatives across the network.
  • Maintain a bench of qualified alternate providers so capacity can be added quickly in new regions or in response to schedule change.
Warehouse Processes & Inventory Control
  • Implement and enforce receiving, inspection and discrepancy/damage-claim processes so that material is accurately recorded on arrival.
  • Own inventory accuracy at all offsite locations through cycle counting, stock reconciliation and root-cause correction of variances.
  • Support the Director's rollout of the formal inventory management platform and WMS across 3PL and company-operated sites, including requirements input, configuration, phased go-live and site-level training.
  • Apply item master, location hierarchy, asset tagging and serialization standards consistently across every offsite facility.
  • Report on warehousing KPIs - inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock, order fill, shrinkage, storage cost and space utilization.
Material Flow & Site Support
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Manager so that inbound freight, customs clearance and internal equipment movements align with warehouse receiving and release windows.
  • Plan staging, kitting and sequenced release of materials to job sites in line with construction sequencing and just-in-time delivery requirements.
  • Manage the outbound release process from offsite warehouses to site, including documentation, chain of custody and proof of delivery.
  • Administer returns, surplus, redeployment and disposal of excess or decommissioned material.
Commercial, Budget & Compliance
  • Build and manage the offsite warehousing operating budget, forecasting storage and handling spend by project and facility.
  • Partner with Finance on accruals, allocation of warehousing cost to projects, and visibility of inventory carrying cost.
  • Ensure warehousing operations comply with insurance, EHS, security and, where applicable, bonded or FTZ storage requirements.
  • Establish business continuity and contingency plans for critical offsite storage locations.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Lead, coach and scale warehouse supervisors, coordinators and 3PL site teams as the network grows.
  • Partner with Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Center Operations, Asset Management, IT and Finance to align material flow with capital project schedules.
  • Work alongside the Logistics Manager - who owns internal equipment movement, freight partnerships and customs clearance - to present a single, seamless physical supply chain to the business.
  • Deputize for the Director on warehousing and inventory matters as required.
