Overview
We are seeking a full-time Manager Technology - Manufacturing and Distribution at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for leading IT service outcomes for Manufacturing and Distribution, initially across US operations and ultimately across global sites. This position serves as the primary IT&S point of accountability to manufacturing and warehouse leaders for stable, scalable, efficient, and effective technology services. This role translates operational needs into a coordinated technology roadmap, drives standards across locations, and holds the appropriate IT&S teams and partners accountable for delivery and support. This position also leads a dedicated team and works closely with Operations Automation Engineering and IT&S teams including EBA, Infrastructure, Cloud, Desktop, Cybersecurity, and other service owners. In addition, this role uses technology and operational data with Operations partners to improve Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS). The role also develops a service model that can be adapted globally. The role is accountable for the end-to-end experience and outcomes of IT&S services within Manufacturing and Distribution, including where another team owns the underlying technology.
Essential Functions
Own the IT&S relationship with Manufacturing and Distribution leadership; understand business priorities, production constraints, site needs, and the impact of technology on operations
Establish a coordinated roadmap for manufacturing and warehouse IT&S services with Operations and the relevant technology owners; drive prioritization, standardization, lifecycle planning, and delivery accountability across teams
Ensure production-critical applications, integrations, endpoints, infrastructure, cloud services, and connected operational systems meet agreed requirements for availability, performance, capacity, supportability, recoverability, and security
Partner closely with Operations Automation Engineering on new and existing automation solutions, including integration with enterprise systems, infrastructure readiness, service transition, support ownership, and operational resilience
Coordinate EBA, Infrastructure, Cloud, Desktop, Cybersecurity, Service Management, and other IT&S teams to resolve cross-team dependencies, close ownership gaps, and provide a consistent service experience across sites
Serve as the face of IT&S during disruptions affecting manufacturing or warehouse operations; coordinate communication, escalation, restoration priorities, and follow-through with the teams responsible for technical recovery
Drive problem management and corrective actions after significant incidents; use recurring issues, capacity trends, and business impact to reduce operational risk and improve service reliability
Define and review service measures with Operations and IT&S partners, including availability, incident impact and recovery, support responsiveness, user experience, standardization, and progress against the roadmap
Use service, production, and process data with Operations and Automation Engineering to identify recurring constraints, prioritize technology improvements, and measure their contribution to Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS)
Partner on the introduction of new products, facilities, processes, and automation capabilities so technology dependencies, security, deployment plans, support processes, and recovery needs are addressed before production use
Simplify and scale services across manufacturing and warehouse sites while documenting service ownership, escalation paths, standards, and measures that can be adapted globally
Lead, coach, and develop direct reports; set objectives, assign work, manage performance, and build the team's knowledge of operational processes and service dependencies
Communicate service health, investment needs, delivery progress, risks, and decisions to Operations and IT&S leadership; escalate unresolved cross-functional issues with clear business impact and options
Contribute to resource and investment planning, vendor and contract decisions, and business cases for improvements within assigned authority
Support a phased expansion from US operations to a consistent global operating model, partnering with regional leaders and teams on local requirements and service transitions
Participate in critical incident escalations outside normal business hours as needed to support manufacturing and warehouse operations.
Travel to manufacturing and warehouse sites as required; follow applicable site safety and protective equipment requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 10 years of experience leading IT&S services, applications, infrastructure, or technology delivery in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or similarly time-sensitive operational environments
Experience leading technical professionals and coordinating outcomes across teams that do not report directly to the role.
Working knowledge of enterprise and operational applications, system integration, end-user technology, infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and service management concepts.
Ability to translate operational needs into priorities, service standards, and practical technology plans; make tradeoffs based on business impact and risk.
Experience coordinating major incident response, communicating with business leaders during service disruption, and driving corrective action across service owners.
Strong communication, relationship management, analytical, and people leadership skills.
Desired Qualifications
Experience supporting multiple manufacturing or warehouse sites, including regional or global services.
Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems, warehouse management systems, ERP integrations, industrial automation, and related operational data flows.
Experience analyzing operational and service data to prioritize improvements, measure outcomes, and support Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS) goals.
