About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Manager will engage on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financial investments and other growth initiatives for our global business, focusing on the technical accounting aspects as part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals. The candidate will be closely involved in the preparation, analysis and presentation of the TSX and NYSE listed financial statements for the Brookfield Renewable Energy Group (BEP and BEPC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Connect with professionals from our global regional platforms to provide support and oversight for growth initiatives;
  • Take the lead on researching and drafting position papers on transactions initiated from our corporate platform;
  • Participate in the valuation of our property, plant and equipment portfolio for annual IFRS reporting, and assist with valuations for M&A and other investments;
  • Perform and/or review analysis under IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 for various agreements;
  • Maintain internal controls related to the above functions to ensure a SOX compliant close process;
  • Coordinate quarter and year-end audit support and work with the independent auditors to address queries;
  • Provide support to the Vice President for ad-hoc requests.


Knowledge and Experience Required

  • 4 years or more of relevant work experience;
  • Capable of managing difficult and demanding situations;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP an asset but not required);
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis of consolidated financial results and in the preparation of supporting documents for complex financial statements;
  • Understanding of valuation techniques, specifically discounted cash flow.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls (specific SOX experience is considered as an asset);
  • Experience in working in a growing organization with changing needs and multiple business transactions that have an impact on the consolidation process of the business;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities;
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and use sound judgment;
  • Solid analytical abilities, combined with being detail-oriented;
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), bilingualism is considered as an asset;
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CA/CPA);
  • 4 years or more of relevant work experience;
  • Capable of managing difficult and demanding situations;
  • Quality and detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Good knowledge of Excel, knowledge of IFS and Cognos Controller an asset.


Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
