The Role

Managers on the Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit team work across a wide range of clients and industries. This role requires strong technical knowledge and project management skills to lead R&D Tax Credit and Sec. 174/Sec. 174A engagements of varying levels of complexity. Managers also help drive practice growth through business development, training and mentoring junior team members, and thought leadership.

Managers can expect to:
  • Manage the day-to-day responsibilities on R&D Tax Credit and Sec. 174/Sec. 174A engagements, including leading technical interviews with subject matter experts, reviewing calculations, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
  • Assist in managing engagement economics, including budgeting and billing, while supporting timely and quality delivery across all phases of an engagement.
  • Participate in business development activities, including preparing proposals for both prospective and current clients.
  • Communicate with clients, manage multiple project deadlines, and remain current on legislative changes.
  • Receive formal training, on the job training, and the opportunity to pursue additional training through internal and external resources.

The Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience managing R&D Tax Credit and Sec. 174/Sec. 174A analyses.
  • Bachelor's and/or relevant advanced degree (MAcc, MST, JD).
    • Accounting, Engineering, or related degree (Preferred)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Advanced credential allowing for IRS client representation (i.e. CPA, JD).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience with tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or similar software is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of accounting methods is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: For individuals hired to work in New York City, the expected salary range for this role is $115,000 to $197,100. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and skill set.

Benefits: Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees may enroll in the firm's 401(k) plan upon hire.
