Job Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Manager or higher, the Lab Manager, Shared Services Development is accountable for the day-to-day management of an R&D Lab site. They are responsible for lab resource forecasting and scheduling and assignment of daily lab tasks for technicians. Additionally, the Lab Manager is responsible for identifying, planning, scheduling, assignment and execution of lab improvement projects to ensure completion of continuous lab improvement goals. The Lab Manager is responsible for development and preparation of performance metrics. Understands environmental chamber supervision, aging program coordination, equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, test procedure maintenance, tool and fixture design, EHS requirements.
Job Responsibilities: • Leads one of the shared services product development or packaging laboratories located in New Jersey, California, or Illinois.
• Executes strategy for the Lab site. • Manages lab supervisor(s).
• Ensures facility compliance to latest standards for EHS and other relevant standards for lab site.
• Ensures organizational awareness of internal and external lab capabilities for efficient project execution.
• Manages capital budget allocated to lab site.
• Manages and monitors lab expenses.
• Using knowledge and experience of design control, guide lab team for execution.
• Ensures projects and products are completed on time and are of BD quality.
• Communicate across the organization to inform and resolve issues.
• Develops and maintains metrics that demonstrate measurable improvements.
• Responsible for oversight of work product for associates within their team.
• Responsible for development of associate career progression.
• Is responsible for lab functions additional to testing, such as environmental chambers supervision, aging program coordination, equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, test procedures maintenance, tool and fixtures designing, EHS representation.
• Responsible for maintaining good documentation practice (GDP), good laboratory practices (GLP) and supports compliance with GLP.
• Participates as primary Lab contact during audits.
• Ensures support and training to technicians.
• Responsible for team coordination with facilities to address equipment breakdowns / repairs.
• Responsible for team coordination with Quality that chamber excursions are documented and addressed.
• Primary interface with facilities, corporate procurement, EHS team, and intercompany lab improvement efforts.
• Create/ maintains procedure document revisions, gap analysis, and rationale for updates.
Education and Experience: - 1-2 years of supervisory experience required, and
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, or other technical fields of study and minimum of 4 years of experience in product development and/or a laboratory setting, Or Associate's degree in engineering, or other technical fields of study and minimum of 8 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

• Ability to tactfully advise decision makers.

• Must understand Design Control with respect to Ver/Val testing.
• Well organized.
• Good understanding of math/statistics.

• Understands root cause analysis techniques.
• Familiar with standards and regulations (ISO, FDA, OSHA, ASTM).
• Can operate and troubleshoot mechanical test equipment in the lab is desirable.

Physical Demands:- Standing while performing task.
- Able to lift 30Lbs.
Work Environment: - Laboratory environment using personal protective equipment (PPE), where may encounter/use chemical or human body fluid for testing.
